How to Use Smart Sending for Better Email Timing

Last updated on May 15, 2026

Reaching someone at exactly the right moment makes a measurable difference to whether your email gets opened or ignored. Mailzzy's Smart Sending feature — powered by Send Time Optimization (STO) — removes guesswork by automatically scheduling each recipient to receive your campaign at the time they are statistically most likely to engage.

How Smart Sending Works

STO analyses at least 30 days of historical behavior for your contacts, examining when they previously opened and clicked emails. It uses this data to calculate a personalized optimal send window for each contact or group and then schedules your campaign to land at that time.

The result is that different recipients in the same campaign may receive your email at different times — each timed to their individual engagement patterns.

Note: Contacts with fewer than 30 days of email interaction history may be excluded from STO scheduling or sent at a default time.

Send Time Optimization Options

  • Recommended Send Time: Once the system learns your sending patterns, it suggests the best time to schedule your campaign based on the selected groups. All recipients will receive the email at the scheduled time.
  • Smart Send: Smart Send identifies each contact’s most active engagement window and delivers the email when they are most likely to interact with it.
  • Smart Send with Schedule: This option combines scheduling with Smart Send. The campaign waits until the scheduled time, then automatically sends emails to each contact during their individual active engagement window.

Enabling Smart Sending on a Campaign

  1. Create your campaign and complete the From, Recipients, and Subject steps.
  2. On the scheduling screen, select Smart Send or Smart Send with Schedule based on your preference.
  3. Confirm your selection. Mailzzy handles all scheduling from this point.

When Not to Use Smart Sending

Smart Sending is not suited to time-critical announcements where every recipient must receive the email at the same fixed moment — for example, a flash sale starting at 12:00 noon. For time-sensitive sends, use standard fixed scheduling instead.
