Common Issues That Prevent Successful Contact Import

Why Am I Unable to Import My Contacts?

If you're having trouble importing your contacts into Mailzzy, don't worry—there are several common issues that can prevent the process from working properly. Below, we outline the most frequent reasons why your file might not be accepted or why specific contact attributes aren't imported as expected.

Common Issues That Prevent Successful Contact Import

1. Unsupported File Format

Mailzzy only supports the .CSV file format for contact imports. If you’re trying to upload a file in another format, like Excel (.xls / .xlsx), TXT, ACT!, or .vcf (vCard), the system will not accept it.

Solution: Ensure your file is saved as a .CSV before uploading.

2. Unsupported File Encoding

Mailzzy primarily supports UTF-8 encoding for file imports. If your file is saved in another encoding format, it may cause errors during import.

Solution: Check that your file is saved in UTF-8 encoding. Most spreadsheet programs, like Excel, allow you to choose the encoding when saving the file.

3. File Size Is Too Large

There’s no limit to how many contacts you can import at once, but your file size must not exceed 85MB. If the file is too large, it might cause delays or errors during the upload process.

Solution: If your file exceeds 85MB, split it into smaller files and import them separately.

4. Non-Printable Characters in Your File

Sometimes, the data in your file may contain hidden or non-printable characters (like hex values, scripts, or extra spaces between columns), which prevent the system from processing it correctly.

Solution: Convert your file to CSV format, then open it in a text editor. Check for any unusual characters, such as hex values or script keywords, and remove them. After cleaning the file, try importing it again.

5. Incorrect Email Address Format

If an email address is formatted incorrectly, Mailzzy won’t import it, and you'll receive the error message: "Email doesn’t have the right format".

Solution: Double-check that all email addresses in your file follow the correct format (e.g., example@domain.com) and fix any incorrect entries.

6. “Something Went Wrong” Error Message

If you see a generic "Something went wrong" error message while uploading your file, this could be caused by issues on our end, such as a temporary platform problem or a network issue.

Solution: Ensure your network connection is stable. Try uploading the file again. If the issue persists, it could be a temporary problem on our platform. Our IT team works quickly to resolve such issues, so try again later.
