When a contact no longer wants to receive your email campaigns, their status changes to Unsubscribed. This may happen if they click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of your email or if you manually unsubscribe them.

What Happens When Someone Unsubscribes?

As soon as a contact is unsubscribed:

  • They are automatically removed from all groups and your Subscribed list.
  • They won’t receive any future emails from you.
  • You can view them by selecting "Unsubscribed" in the status dropdown on the Contacts page.
  • Note: Unsubscribed contacts are not counted toward your contact usage.

Manually Unsubscribing a Contact

You might need to manually unsubscribe someone if they request it directly or if you no longer want to send them emails.

To unsubscribe a contact:

  • Go to the Contacts page.
  • Use the search bar to find the contact.
  • Click on their email to open their profile.
  • Click the Actions button, then select Unsubscribe.

That’s it! The contact is now unsubscribed and won’t receive future emails.

Unsubscribing Multiple Contacts at Once

To unsubscribe several recipients at once:

  • Navigate to Contacts.
  • (Optional) Use filters to find the specific contacts.
  • Select the contacts you wish to unsubscribe.
  • Click the Email Subscription option.
  • In the pop-up modal, choose Unsubscribed as the new status. You’ll see a note like “1 contact eligible to be updated”, which means only contacts currently marked as Subscribed can be changed.
  • Click Submit to confirm.

Reactivating Unsubscribed Contacts

You can resubscribe contacts, but only if you have clear and documented permission to send them emails again. This is useful if someone was unsubscribed by mistake or requests to be added back.

To resubscribe a contact:

  • Go to the Contacts page.
  • Use the search bar to find the unsubscribed contact.
  • Click their email to open their profile.
  • Click the Actions button, then choose Subscribe.

Note: It may take up to 5 hours for the subscription change to reflect across all servers.
